ICT-Bio ASIA Workshop 2016

On May 30th and 31st 2016, Universiti Malaya, hosted around 200 researchers within the frame of ICT-Bio Asia Workshop 2016. This workshop gathers every year scientists from all over the ASEAN region and from France. Four themes were highlighted this time: Green Smart City, Biomass and Renewable Energies, Health and Well-being and Cybersecurity.

JPEGThe ceremony was opened by guests of Honor H.E. Mr. Christophe Penot, Ambassador of France to Malaysia and YB. Mr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy-Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The 2016 edition of ICT-Bio Asia was highlighted by around twenty high-quality presentations, researchers coming from ten different countries and approximatively 200 participants.

An important French delegation of scientists from National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS), the Research and Development Institute (IRD) or the National Institute of Informatics and Automatics Research (INRIA) has participated in the discussions with the Malaysian partners.

After a fruitful first day of discussions, un gala dinner was organized at PAUM Club House, in Universiti Malaya. More than 120 researchers have been able to exchange ideas and develop their networks.

To end the workshop, participants have visited the High Impact Research Institute (HIR), a well-known lab with three Nobel Prizes at its board equipped of high-technology machines.

Two Memorandum of Agreements have been signed during the workshop :

• "Quorum sensing and quorum quenching in bacterial world", a project of partnership between Universiti Malaya, the National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Museum of Natural History of Paris (MNHN).

• "Online Robot and Machine Planning in Virtual Environment" is a project between Universiti Malaya, Airbus Group SAS, Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre and the Embassy of France in Malaysia.
