Do you need a Long Stay Visa?

Family members of an EU citizen only need to obtain an "entry" visa to France in order to settle in France.

1. If your nationality does not require applying for a short stay visa for the Schengen Area, you do not need a long stay visa for France.

2. If your nationality does require applying for a short stay visa for the Schengen Area, you have to apply for a short stay visa “Spouse of European Nationals” here

How to proceed: After his/her arrival in France, the spouse of an EU citizen should apply directly for the "Titre de Séjour" at the French "Préfecture" of their residence.

Please contact directly the "Préfecture" near to your place of residence in France for detailed requirements for further process to obtain the "Titre de Séjour" or resident pass.

To find the correct contact address for your local préfecture, please visit the website of the French Ministry of Home Affairs (In French only) here.
