The 25th edition of the World Gas Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur from 4 to 8 June 2012. It brought together 5,420 participants, which included more than 200 French delegates. The French mobilisation was made more prominent by the participation of M. Christophe de Margerie, CEO of Total, and M. Jean-François Cirelli, Vice President of GDF Suez, along with M. D. Simonneau, Director of International Relations.

At a cocktail party at the Residence of France, Ambassador wished to recall that Malaysia was an attractive market for French companies in the sector. Malaysia, the third largest exporter of liquefied natural gas behind Qatar and Indonesia, has considerable resources.

In this perspective, Ubifrance Malaysia will organise the 5th Franco-Malaysian symposium on oil and gas on November 22, 2012. National oil company, Petronas, will again this year, co-organise the event with Ubifrance. The four previous editions became a favorite meeting place for Malaysian oil and gas operators and French companies in the sector. This new edition will receive special support from Total and GEP (group of French oil companies and related industries).

An important contract between Petronas and Technip France was sealed in what would be the first floating platform in the world to extract and process LNG off Sabah; and a memorandum of understanding between GEP and MOGSC, Malaysian commercial forum related to hydrocarbons.
