Getting a visa

Every foreign national wishing to come to France must have ready for presentation at the border documentary evidence of the purpose of the visit, means of support for the duration of the stay and accommodation arrangements. In some cases, a visa is required. It must be requested from the French consulate before departure.

Do you need a visa ?

According to your citizenship, the duration and purpose of your stay in France, a visa may be required before departure.

To check if you need a visa, to get some information about the visa application procedure and to download application form, you should consult the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

Malaysian citizens holding a valid Malaysian passport do not need a visa if they stay in France for no more than 90 days for tourism or business purpose.

Visa fee

An application fee must be paid, in cash, in Malaysian ringgits (according to the conversion rate) upon application. This fee is not refundable whatever the outcome of the application.

To reduce the waiting time at our counters and to be sure to receive our applicants in the best possible conditions, the visa service is now processing with appointment-system (one person per appointment).

From December 1, 2009, all appointments should be made through our official website.

Guidelines

You must bring all the required documents plus photocopies for the type of visa for which you are applying on the day of your appointment. The documents you must bring are listed on this website for each type of visa

Kindly note that depending on periods and number of applicants, the delay concerning the booking of an appointment can be variable (from 1 to 8 weeks)

We request you to plan your trip in such a way so as to present your file in the course of 3 months prior to the departure date.

It is advisable to only book your tickets and only purchase them upon visa approvals.

Warning ! This appointment service is totally free of charge. Any person that would book an appointment through a third party under a false identity would have been done it at his/her own risks and might being considered as an illegal action.

All false or corrupted information or data (i.e : false or incomplete name, nickname, wrong passport number…) may result in a automatic cancellation of the appointment, if not the refusal of the visa.
